George Magoha lands another job at Maseno University months after leaving the Education Ministry.
After quitting the Education Ministry three months ago, former Cabinet Secretary for Education George Magoha has landed a new job.
On January 17, Maseno University named Magoha to the position of professor of surgery in the college’s School of Medicine.
The former CS will oversee research and teach at the university’s faculty of medicine.
“Magoha is an invaluable asset to the institution because of his vast experience in the medical field.
“We are lucky as an institution because our School of Medicine is relatively new and it will be a boost to have a strong personality like Magoha in our team,” the University announced in a statement.

Magoha’s second tenure as a lecturer at a higher education institution marks his entrée into academia.
He started his teaching career at the University of Nairobi (UoN), where he was a Urological and Transplant Surgery professor at the College of Health Sciences.
Magoha rose through the ranks and was appointed as Vice Chancellor of the institution in 2005.
He held that job for ten years till he left in 2015 to take the helm of the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who had appointed Magoha as KNEC chair in 2015, elevated him on March 1, 2019, to the position of Education CS and was officially sworn into the docket on March 26, 2019.
Magoha, prior to being appointed as a lecturer at Maseno University, had remarked that he would love to go into private practice.
“I will miss you, journalists, you played a big role. If you have issues with passing urine, pass by my clinic in Nairobi Hospital,” Magoha told the press about his retirement plans on August 22, 2022.
