Former Lands Cabinet Secretary Dr. Farida Karoney has been appointed the Growth Strategy Consultant at Cape Media Limited, the parent company of TV47, Radio47, and TV47 Digital.

In her new role, Dr. Karoney will spearhead the strategic and policy changes aimed at positioning Cape Media as a digital-first media house and strengthening its competitiveness in the rapidly evolving media landscape.

According to a statement released by Cape Media, Karoney will also focus on diversifying revenue streams and enhancing the media group’s overall brand strength.

In her acceptance speech, Dr. Karoney emphasized the need to mold a resilient and future-ready Cape Media brand, stating that the future of media lies in robust strategy, innovation, and digital transformation.

Cape Media Limited Chairperson Prof. Simon Gicharu welcomed her appointment, describing it as a step in the right direction that will ensure TV47, Radio47, and their digital platforms sustain and accelerate their current growth trajectory.

Dr. Karoney brings decades of experience in both the public and private sectors, with a distinguished career in governance, institutional reform, and media transformation.

She previously served as Cabinet Secretary for Lands and Physical Planning from 2018 to 2022, where she led major land reforms, including the digitization of land records and services.

Before her stint in government, Karoney held leadership roles in top media organisations, including Chief Operating Officer and Editorial Director at Royal Media Services.

She has also worked with KTN, Nation Media Group, and Al Jazeera.

Dr. Karoney, who holds a PhD in Business Administration (Strategy), an MBA in Strategic Management, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication, is widely recognised for her bold, decisive leadership and commitment to excellence.
