Police have apprehended four other suspects (Wells Fargo employees) in the Sh94.9 million Quickmart Supermarket heist that took place on November 6

Police have apprehended four other suspects (Wells Fargo employees) in the Sh94.9 million Quickmart Supermarket heist that took place on November 6.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested four Wells Fargo staff believed to have aided in the Ksh.94,918,750 Quickmart heist that occurred a fortnight ago.

Police on Saturday said they were able to make the arrest after a thorough analysis of forensic evidence.

The arrest of the four; Joel Oyuchi Mweseli, Harrison Mugendi Njeru, Caleb Ouma Okinyi and Ronald Ouma Oluu, comes as sleuths are still hunting two people also employed by the courier and security company believed to have been the prime architects of the heist.

According to police, the four arrested are all employees of Wells Fargo courier and security company.

Mweseli holds the role of planner within Wells Fargo whereas Njeru is the head of drivers; Okinyi serves as a fleet supervisor, while Oluu is responsible for overseeing crew commanders.

“Detectives pursuing suspects in the November 6 thievery of over Sh94.9 million while on transit by Wells Fargo staffers have today arrested four more suspected accomplices, all employees of the courier and security company,” police said.

They will all be arraigned in court on Monday, November 27, 2023.

So far, eight suspects have been arrested in connection to the heist after the DCI, on November 12, apprehended four individuals linked to the robbery.

Ismael Patrick Gitonga, the owner and driver of motor vehicle reg. no. KBM 751W suspected to have been used to ferry the stolen cash from the escort van, was arrested in Rongai.

The detectives subsequently traced the motor vehicle to Njiru within Kayole area where two more suspects, Michael Matolo Njeru and Samwel Onyango, were caught modifying the vehicle in an attempt to conceal it.

The last of the four, Martin Nderi Nganga, was apprehended in Kasarani where Ksh.9.1 million was found stashed in a jerrycan and suitcase at his rented house.

Police launched a manhunt for the two guards (Daniel Mugetha and Anthony Nduiki) who were reported to have run away with the Sh94.9 million to be delivered to a bank in Nairobi.

The money was from a vault belonging to the security firm in the Industrial Area and was to be delivered to a bank in the Central Business District when the incident happened at about 6 am, November 6.

The two on board the company’s vehicle had arrived at the vault as scheduled but left without police escort.
