France President Emmanuel Macron hails President William Ruto ahead of the inaugural African Climate Summit in Nairobi.

Emmanuel Macron has heaped praise on William Ruto for taking the initiative to host the inaugural African Climate Summit on September 4.

Speaking to ambassadors in France on Tuesday, Macron said the meeting was opportune and that its ideas will be highly beneficial to both the continent and the rest of the world.

While comparing the gathering to the Paris Agreement, a legally binding agreement on climate change, Macron offered to support Ruto on the initiative.

According to Macron, the African Climate Summit in Nairobi will support the Loss and Damage Fund, which will guarantee that developing countries receive financial support to deal with the bad effects that result from the inevitable risks of climate change.

“President Emmanuel Macron stressed that the Nairobi summit is in line with France’s agenda on climate and biodiversity, which will be a major discussion point leading up to COP28 from November 30 to December 12, 2023, at Expo City, Dubai.

“The President also linked the Nairobi climate summit to the Paris Climate Pact, which will set up new mechanisms for raising funds from the World Bank, the IMF and the private sector,” read the French embassy statement in part.

Additionally, Macron reaffirmed that France was working to strengthen security pacts with Kenya to address problems brought on by armed organizations like Al Shabaab.

Over 24 heads of state are anticipated to attend the Africa Climate Summit, which will be held at the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC).

Over 30,000 foreign delegates will also be present, according to a Cabinet dispatch on Tuesday, August 30.

African leaders are anticipated to make ideas, establish a shared stance on climate change, and talk about financial arrangements between Africa and other industrialized continents, such Europe.
