Frenkie de Jong frustrated with Barcelona over a potential Old Trafford move
Frenkie de Jong frustrated with Barcelona for mishandling his manchester United move.
According to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook, both Manchester United and Frenkie de Jong are growing “frustrated” with Barcelona.
The Dutchman’s planned move to Old Trafford has met a snag due to his present club owing him money.
And the entire transfer saga is claimed to have left him feeling “perplexed.”
The Telegraph reported that the La Liga outfit owes De Jong more than £17m in deferred wages and bonuses, which is holding up his transfer to the Red Devils.
BBC Sport has reported that United CEO Richard Arnold and John Murtough flew to Barcelona to try and finally wrap up a deal for De Jong.
And TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has now revealed that Manchester United and De Jong are not happy with Barcelona right now.
Speaking to GMS, the talkSPORT reporter said: “I think they are getting a bit frustrated with Barcelona. I think he is as well, to be honest, because obviously he’s owed a fair amount of money and he can see them putting bids in for Raphinha and [Robert] Lewandowski. So he’s a bit perplexed by that, as I understand it.”
According to Crook, United could turn to Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans if they fail to sign De Jong this summer.
Youri Tielemans has just one year remaining on his contract at Leicester.
Ruben Neves of Wolves is another name rumored to be on United’s list; he has already stated that this would be the right time for him to attempt something different in his career.
However, it is certain that Erik ten Hag wants De Jong, therefore Manchester United must use every effort to make it happen.
