Frenkie de Jong wants Barcelona stay despite Man Utd agreement, “they’re signing a player who doesn’t want them”; Ronald Koeman
Frenkie de Jong still wants Barcelona stay despite his club reaching an agreement with Manchester United.
Sky Sports had asserted that the Man United had reached a “broad agreement” to pay Barcelona €65 million guaranteed plus add-ons.
With the assurance that a deal was now far closer to being concluded, it was said that the “finer details,” including personal arrangements, still needed to be worked out.
However, Spanish publication Sport claim there are huge complications with any potential deal as De Jong doesn’t actually want to make the move to United.
Sport claim that a deal between the two clubs is ‘getting closer’ but that a deal ‘will not come to fruition if the player does not change his mind’.
The Netherlands international is ‘determined to stay at the Camp Nou, he has ‘no intention of leaving and he has transmitted this to the two clubs’.
It is understood that ‘the situation has become tense’ and De Jong is unhappy ‘that everyone pushes him to leave’ for Man Utd and the Dutchman has ‘come to doubt even his agent’.
According to former Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman, despite rumors of a deal with Manchester United, Frenkie de Jong wants to stay at Camp Nou this summer.
He said; “The only thing I know is that Frenkie wants to continue at Barca,” Koeman told Esport 3. “A couple of days ago he told me he wanted to continue. What I don’t know is if Barca wants to sell him or needs money because he is one of the few players for whom they can get a good amount. For me, De Jong is a great player for Barca.”
