Gachagua Set To Go Toe-To-Toe For Nairobi City County, a Move Likely to Unsettle Gov Sakaja

Rigathi Gachagua, the deputy president, has given an explanation of his interest in Nairobi politics

Rigathi Gachagua, the deputy president, has given an explanation of his interest in Nairobi politics.

Speaking on Saturday, April 27, at the Lang’ata Women Empowerment program, Gachagua emphasized the importance of protecting the city, which is a popular location for African investors.

The second-in-command pledged to include President William Ruto in overseeing the leadership and development advancements in Nairobi, citing his numerous investments within the city.

“It is the business centre of East and Central Africa. We must take a keen interest in matters in Nairobi.”

He continued by saying that his interest in municipal politics stemmed from his investments in Nairobi.

“I constructed my home in Lang’ata in 1993. My businesses are rented apartments, I’m a stakeholder in Nairobi and we want to know what’s happening in Nairobi,” Gachagua revealed.

“I will take a keen interest in the political developments here because it is the capital seat of government and the business centre of East and Central Africa.”

Nairobi County has seen significant issues recently, including uncollected trash, unscrupulous officials, and inadequate drainage systems.

“You will see us taking matters. Nairobi is too important to be left like that. The president and I will take a keen interest in restoring the glory of Nairobi,” the DP stated.

In addition, Gachagua pledged to collaborate with all Nairobi County leaders—regardless of party affiliation—to bring back the county’s grandeur.

“I’m looking for this young man called Babu Owino so we can work together. We will work with Beatrice Elachi, Esther Passaris and even Jalang’o.”

The second-in-command addressed the threat of flooding that Nairobi is currently facing and urged Kenyans to exercise caution when traveling on the roads while the government worked to provide help to those in need.

“People need to take care of themselves and stop exposing themselves to danger. I have seen a lorry full of people crossing a flooded river.”
