Gachagua unveils DCP’s ambitious plan to dominate Nairobi ahead of 2027.
Former Deputy President and Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has announced a major political alliance with the Wiper Party, led by Kalonzo Musyoka, with the joint goal of sweeping all top political positions in Nairobi during the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Sunday, November 30, at a Thanksgiving ceremony for the Kariobangi North MCA-elect, Gachagua outlined a detailed strategy for the capital, asserting that DCP is poised to take the Governor, Senate, and Women Representative seats.
“We have an arrangement with the Wiper party leader. Out of 17 constituencies, DCP will take 16. Out of 85 wards, between DCP and Wiper, we will have 75,” he stated.
He framed the arrangement as a strategic effort to consolidate power and influence, ensuring that DCP and Wiper jointly command Nairobi’s political landscape.
Statements by Gachagua have emerged amid accusations within the United Opposition camp, where other leaders have been accused of holding meetings and forming political alliances without the knowledge of the entire leadership.
The former DP also addressed voter dynamics, claiming that those who voted for President William Ruto in Nairobi in 2022 were essentially his (Gachagua) supporters, not UDA loyalists.

“Those who voted for Ruto in Nairobi were not UDA supporters. They were Riggy G supporters, and I left with all of them,” he noted.
He also discussed the recently concluded by-elections, highlighting his party’s performance in other parts of the country. He noted that while the party did not field a candidate in Mbeere North, it won three out of five contested seats elsewhere, arguing that critics were focusing on areas where the party did not compete.
“DCP had no candidate in Mbeere North. Where we had candidates, we won 3 out of 5. They are not talking about that. They are talking about Mbeere North. I just went there to help with the Democratic Party (DP),” Gachagua reiterated.
Gachagua also praised the Kariobangi North MCA-elect and promised that the MCA’s performance in office would determine whether he seeks re-election in 2027. He urged the MCA to focus on delivering tangible results for residents as a measure of accountability.
He accused government agencies of attempting to intimidate voters and his supporters with goons, arguing that coercion cannot determine election outcomes, referencing instances in Narok where he was confronted by police while campaigning for his party’s candidate in Narok town ward by-election.
“Why are you sending goons to attack me, my community, and my supporters? You cannot use force to make people vote for you,” he said.
