A poll by research firm Infotrak has revealed Gen Z and Raila Odinga as the top-ranked heroes and heroines in the country

A poll by research firm Infotrak has revealed Gen Z and Raila Odinga as the top-ranked heroes and heroines in the country.

In the poll released on Wednesday, October 23, GenZ were the top-ranked heroes at 23 percent followed by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at 18 percent.

“The survey highlighted Generation Z’s significant impact on Kenya, with 23% of respondents viewing them as emerging national heroes due to their contributions to environmental activism, social justice, and technological solutions,” read the report in part.

“Hon. Raila Odinga was the most frequently mentioned hero, with 18% of respondents nationwide recognizing him. His influence was especially pronounced in Nyanza (30%), his political stronghold, but he also had significant support in regions like Western (23%) and Coast (22%).

His long-standing role in Kenyan politics and his continued push for reforms and democracy resonated with many.”

Decorated athlete Faith Kipyegon came third at 11 percent. Kipyegon was recognized for her remarkable achievements in athletics.

Ranked at 8 percent were President William Ruto, impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.

Other recognised individuals were former President Uhuru Kenyatta (7 percent) and Kalonzo Musyoka (5 percent). Morara Kebaso, Gold medalist Eliud Kipchoge and former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i were ranked at 3 percent.

On the other hand, Busia Senator Okiya Omtata was ranked at 2 percent.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Kasmuel Mcoure, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua and Erick Omondi were ranked at 1 percent.
