Gideon Moi to contest for Baringo Senatorial by-election

The Kenya African National Union (KANU) has confirmed that its National Chairman, Gideon Moi, will be on the ballot in the forthcoming Baringo Senatorial by-election. 

In a statement on Thursday, October 2, the party revealed that Moi had been nominated after wide-ranging consultations both within the party and with the people of Baringo.

“The Kenya African National Union (KANU) wishes to formally announce that, following extensive consultations, deliberations, and consensus within the party and with the people of Baringo, our National Chairman, Hon. Gideon Moi, has been nominated as the party’s candidate for the forthcoming Baringo Senatorial by-election,” the statement read.

KANU further said that Moi had accepted the nomination, noting his gratitude to the party faithful and the wider Baringo community.

“In accepting this call to serve, Hon. Moi has expressed profound gratitude to KANU members, supporters, and the people of Baringo for their patience, confidence, and steadfast support,” the statement added.

According to KANU, Moi intends to center his campaign on inclusive leadership and transparent governance, pledging to run a campaign rooted in service to the people.

“He remains committed to running a people-driven campaign anchored on inclusivity, accountability, and service to all. Therefore, as a party, we are confident that Hon. Gideon Moi’s candidature will resonate widely with the electorate,” the statement further read.

In conclusion, KANU urged supporters from Baringo and beyond to stand firmly with Moi as he seeks a return to the Senate.

“We call upon our supporters across Baringo County and the country at large to rally behind our Chairman as we embark on this crucial journey,” the statement concluded.
