Government announces 7-day window for KJSEA placement revision
The Ministry of Education now says it will reopen the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) placement revision portal
The Ministry of Education now says it will reopen the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) placement revision portal from December 23 to allow parents and learners to make amendments.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba noted that the five-day window would allow any necessary revisions for learners to align their choices better with their interests and performance.
Parents and school heads were also advised that concerns should be submitted through the junior school heads, and approvals will be based on available capacity at the senior schools.
This follows widespread dissatisfaction by a section of parents over the criteria for placement of their children in the senior secondary schools.
Most of the parents who received messages on Saturday, December 20, questioned the criteria used, with others claiming that the automated system has yet to give feedback.
According to some of the parents, several attempts to access the placement results of their children proved futile despite using the accurate assessment number.

Some received a brief response which read, “Dear learner, the requested information is unavailable, or the assessment number does not exist. Confirm that your assessment number is accurate.”
“The assessment number is the same one I used in getting the results. So how will I explain to my child that his results are unavailable?” a parent lamented.
Other parents have also raised concerns over the placement of their children in schools which are out of their residence, a situation which they claim could be stressful to the learners.
The latest update comes two days after the Ministry of Education officially released the school placement results for the Grade 10 learners.
In a press address on Friday, December 19, the ministry advised parents to check their children’s placement through an SMS by sending the learner’s KNEC assessment number to 22263 or the ministry’s portal placements. education.go.ke.
According to the Ministry, the placement was fully automated and considered learners’ choices, performance in KJSEA, psychometric test results, equity considerations, and school capacity.
