Government announces free courses for Kenyans with a diploma certificate and above which are geared towards enhancing youth employment.

The Kenyan Government, through the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection on Monday, May 8, announced opportunities for Kenyans with a diploma certificate and above.

Through State Department for Labour and Skills Development, the ministry announced it had partnered with Ajira, a government programme geared towards enhancing youth employment, to offer free courses.

The National Online Employment Skills Development Programme will be offered virtually, to equip the youth with the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes. 

Eligibility

According to the government, this course would only be available to Kenyan citizens, and during the application, proof of citizenship must be produced.

The programme is meant to empower the youth, targeting applicants between 18 and 35 years. 

Apart from having a diploma certificate in any field, the applicant must demonstrate proficiency in computer skills.

Requirements for applicants

Interested parties must submit the following documents; Curriculum Vitae specifying their county of residence, a copy of their National Identity Card/Passport, a copy of their highest academic certificate, and an application letter specifying their area of interest.

The aforementioned documents should be submitted to Principal Secretary, State Department for Labour and Skills Development through email address skills@posttraining.go.ke

Deadline for submissions

The Ministry of Labour announced that the application closing date would be Monday, May 29, 2023.

“Women and persons with disabilities who meet the specified requirements are encouraged to apply and also indicate so in their applications,” the announcement read in part.
