The Ministry of Education announces fully-funded UK (United Kingdom) scholarships for 2025
The Ministry of Education announces fully-funded UK (United Kingdom) scholarships for 2025.
The Ministry of Education, in partnership with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) in the United Kingdom, has opened applications for the 2025 academic year, offering full scholarships to Kenyan citizens pursuing Master’s and PhD studies in the UK.
This opportunity, highlighted in a notice on MyGov on Tuesday, August 27, promises a significant educational advancement for qualified individuals, reinforcing the country’s commitment to academic excellence and professional development.
The scholarships will be awarded to 10 PhD candidates and 19 Master’s students, providing full financial coverage at any approved UK university that hosts CSC scholars.
This initiative, while fostering individual academic growth, also aims at enhancing Kenya’s development through the knowledge and expertise that these scholars will bring back home.
Interested applicants are urged to mark their calendars, as the online application portal opens on September 10, with a strict cut-off date of October 15, 2024.
Following the online submission, candidates must submit printed copies of their completed applications to the Ministry of Education by 5:00 p.m. on October 17, 2024.
To be eligible for the Master’s scholarships, applicants must demonstrate strong academic performance, evidenced by a Bachelor’s degree with at least a 2nd class upper division from a recognised university.
Additionally, they must submit two supporting statements from referees, along with a well-crafted proposal that outlines how their chosen area of study will contribute to Kenya’s development.
For those pursuing PhDs, the requirements include a Master’s degree, similar referee statements, and a supporting statement from a potential supervisor at a UK institution.
The Ministry of Education has emphasised that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, underscoring the competitive nature of the selection process.
Moreover, being nominated by the Ministry does not guarantee selection or placement, as final decisions rest with the CSC. The Ministry also issued a stern warning against the submission of falsified documents, indicating that such actions would be met with legal consequences.

Applicants must strictly adhere to the provided guidelines to ensure their submissions are considered. The process involves completing an online application through the CSC website, followed by downloading and completing a Standard Scholarship Application Form from the Ministry of Education’s website.
This form, along with certified supporting documents, must be submitted in three hard copies to the Directorate of Higher Education.
This scholarship announcement represents a pivotal opportunity for Kenyans aspiring to further their studies abroad, offering a pathway to not only personal academic advancement but also to contributing significantly to national development. The collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the CSC is a testament to the value placed on higher education and the global opportunities it presents.
