Government announces NYOTA Fund application deadline
Thousands of young Kenyans risk missing out on government opportunities as the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project initiates its final applications for the On-the-Job Experience (OJE) component of the project.
The State Department for Youth Affairs and Creative Economy has urged eligible youth to complete their registration before the deadline, warning that time is running out.
”Today marks the final deadline for applications to the NYOTA Project On-the-Job Experience (OJE) component. You have only a few hours remaining to take a decisive step toward building practical skills and unlocking meaningful employment opportunities,” stated the department.
The department further announced that applicants can register by dialling *254# and selecting the OJE option, a process that takes only a few minutes to complete and requires no payment whatsoever.
The On-the-Job Experience program aims to attach 90,000 youth to master trainers for six months, offering practical skills development and a monthly stipend of Ksh 6,000 to participants.
Eligible candidates include Kenyan citizens aged 18 to 29 years, or up to 35 years for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), with a Form 4 education level or below.

The NYOTA Project represents a Ksh5 billion investment funded in partnership with the World Bank, targeting 820,000 vulnerable youth across all 47 counties over five years.
President William Ruto has been touring several counties since early 2026 to officially roll out the programme, personally supervising the release of funds in a bid to promote transparency and curb potential misuse of resources.
In Mandera County, the President distributed Ksh63 million to 2,520 youth, while a similar amount benefited young people in Garissa County, including support for refugee youth.
The initiative forms part of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, aiming to shift young Kenyans from job seekers to owners of scalable, formal business ventures nationwide.
Beyond OJE, the project includes entrepreneurship grants of Ksh50,000 for 110,000 young entrepreneurs, accompanied by comprehensive business skills training, mentorship, and ongoing support from government agencies.
