The government releases Ksh.2 billion Inua Jamii cash to over 1 million beneficiaries for the month of December.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has released Sh 2.8 billion as the December stipend for Inua Jamii beneficiaries.
Labour CS Florence Bore in a statement on Tuesday, January 2 disclosed that the funds were credited to the accounts of 1,044,922 Inua Jamii beneficiaries, with each beneficiary receiving Sh 2,000.
She also noted that the Ministry has disbursed another Sh5,930,000 for Nutrition Improvement through Cash and Health Education (NICHE).
“The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection on Friday, 29th December 2023 released Sh two Billion, Eighty-Nine Million, Eight Hundred and Forty-Four Thousand shillings only (Sh 2,089,844,000) for payment to beneficiaries enrolled in the Inua Jamii programme, and a further Five Million, Nine Hundred and Thirty Thousand shillings only (Sh 5,930,000) for Nutrition Improvement through Cash and Health Education (NICHE), which is a complimentary programme,” read the statement in part.
At the same time, CS Bore mentioned that the Inua Jamii beneficiaries will receive their stipends through Mpesa following President William Ruto’s directive.

“Orphans and Vulnerable Children beneficiaries Cash Transfer (OVC-CT) and Persons with Severe Disabilities beneficiaries Cash Transfer (PWSD-CT) caregivers are required to enroll for Mpesa payments by dialing *222# using their registered Mpesa phone numbers,” she stated.
However, the Labour CS pointed out that Older Persons Cash Transfer (OP-CT) beneficiaries will continue to receive their funds through their bank accounts as usual.
The payments will commence on Tuesday, 2nd January 2024.
The Inua Jamii programme is a Government Cash Transfer initiative that supports the most vulnerable members of the community by providing them with a stipend to cushion them from poverty, and hunger and improve their lives.
