Government gazettes 2 new state lodges
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has gazetted 2 new state lodges.
Through a Gazette Notice dated Thursday, April 17, Murkomen gazetted the Bungoma County Commissioner’s official residence as a state lodge.
Also gazetted was the Kwale County Commissioner’s official residence.
Following the declaration, the two will be joining other state lodges which are located in Kakamega, Eldoret, Makueni, Kisumu, Kisii, Kilifi, and Nyeri.
Similar to the State House in Mombasa and Nairobi, state lodges are official residences across the country that host the President when visiting a particular area.

Notably, some of the residences were completed last year. For instance, the Bungoma State Lodge was constructed last year ahead of the Madaraka Day celebrations.
The Kwale State Lodge was also constructed last year as the county hosted the 2024 Mashujaa Day celebrations.
Following their gazettment of the state lodges, the two residences will be allocated money for maintenance works just like the others.
Appropriate security personnel are also expected to be deployed to the residences.
