Government opens applications for the NYOTA project offering offers monthly stipends
The government has officially opened applications for the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project, a flagship employment and training initiative targeting over 800,000 young Kenyans.
The program offers monthly stipends of Ksh6,000 to successful applicants undergoing workplace placements lasting three to six months.
The government says the project aims to address the growing challenge of youth unemployment by providing hands-on work experience, skills development, and mentorship.
In a statement released on Thursday, July 31, the National Employment Authority (NEA) directed interested individuals aged 18 to 29, or up to 35 years for persons with disabilities, to apply for the program.
The eligibility criteria also include unemployed youth or those in low-income jobs, with a minimum education level of Form Four. Youth from all 47 counties are encouraged to apply.

To apply, youth must dial *254# on their mobile phones, select the NYOTA Project option, and follow the prompts.
NEA further directed interested parties to submit their application before August 15, and visit their nearest Youth Development Offices in sub-counties or counties for support during the application process.
According to the Ministry of Youth Affairs, the NYOTA Project, implemented in partnership with the World Bank, will place youth with vetted employers across various sectors and regions.
Participants will also receive life skills training, digital and business skills, and a nationally recognized certificate upon completion.
Authorities have warned the public to be wary of fraudsters, emphasizing that the program is free of charge and no payment is required at any stage.
