Isaac Mwaura says the government will initiate a probe on alleged police abductions.
Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura on Monday revealed that the government would expedite a probe of all the cases of alleged abduction of civilians by the police.
Mwaura who spoke during an interview on TV47 clarified that the government was still verifying the claims before appropriate action is taken.
While addressing the matter, the government spokesperson urged Kenyans with such claims to lodge their cases through the right channels.
According to Mwaura, there was no justification for the police service to stage abductions.
“We can not confirm whether these things happened and if they did, I think any action would be taken to remedy such a situation,” Mwaura clarified.
“I don’t see the reason as to why at this point there should be such things as abductions by the police, for what reason. I don’t want us to sound alarmist to say that there are no justifications for such cases.”
Mwaura’s clarification comes hardly four days after the University of Nairobi students staged demonstrations demanding the release of their leader Rocha Madzao.
Madzao reportedly went missing about a week ago after he was abducted by unknown people while on his way home.

According to reports, the student leader was allegedly abducted for opposing the new university funding model which has attracted uproar from a majority of Kenyans.
The University Student Association’s Secretary General, Ramesh Saxena, has since demanded his immediate release.
“An injury to one comrade is an injury to all comrades and no one shall know peace till the President is back with us,” stated Saxena while announcing planned protests.
The UoN students have since urged other students across the country to support their move in calling for the release of their student leader.
