According to a tender notice by the KURA, Director General Silas Kinoti signed on December 19, the rehabilitation of the road will cost Ksh1.6 billion.
State House Road starts from Nairobi’s CBD, connecting with major thoroughfares like University Way and leading directly to the State House, serving as a crucial route for accessing government offices and the Presidential residence.
The rehabilitation of the route is expected to improve traffic flow along the route, which serves one of the city’s key segments, according to KURA.
Besides the road leading to State House, KURA revealed that a further 92 roads are set to be rehabilitated for a total budget of Ksh15.6 billion.

Other key roads that are set for rehabilitation include Mfangano Ring Road, Mathare access roads, Casaurina Road in Kilifi, Kagio Town- Kanharu-Kathaka Road, Nakuru town East Roads, among others.
Kinoti said that successful bidders of the projects will undertake the rehabilitation of the roads in line with government specifications and timelines .
Bidders shall be required to submit several documents, including Certificate of Incorporation, annual practising license, Tax Compliance certificate, and CR 12 form, for them to be eligible for the tenders, as well as a valid Registration Certificate for Access to Government Procurement Opportunities for special projects.
Interested bidders will be required to deposit their respective tender documents in the respective tender boxes a the KURA Nairobi Regional Offices and Headquarters before Thursday, January 22.
Completed tender documents are to be enclosed in plain sealed envelopes clearly marked with tender name, reference number, and submitted to the Nairobi Regional Office or the Headquarters as indicated in this tender notice.
