Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff now says he will not be intimidated following a raid on his radio station after banning Muguka in his county.
Speaking on Wednesday, May 29 after his Radio Station Rahma FM was raided Abdulswamad said the government will not strip the dignity of Mombasa locals.
“Here on the coast, if it’s not the issues of drugs, it Muguka. This won’t end, no matter how much we discuss it, intimidation will not work. You can take away everything, but you will never ever strip our dignity from us,” said Abdulswamad.
The Mombasa Governor’s radio station was raided by alleged KRA officers on Wednesday morning over alleged tax arrears.
Abdulswamad was forced to step in to stop the two officers from taking equipment from the radio station.
“You came here, and everyone I have spoken to says they are not aware of any arrears. If you have been sent to harass us, we are going to take this matter even further. If it’s Muguka causing these issues, to make you think we will be intimidated, we will continue,” the Mombasa Governor stated.

Governor Abdulswamad on Wednesday last week banned the entry transportation, sale, and use of Muguka a move that was followed by Kilifi and Taita Taveta counties.
On Monday President William Ruto held a phone conversation with the three coastal governors over the ban.
In a statement, Ruto said the county bosses agreed to participate in a stakeholder meeting that will be convened by the Ministry of Agriculture this week.
The Head of State also disclosed that he agreed with the three governors to convene a meeting of political leaders of the affected counties next week.
“Governors Abulswamad Nassir, Gideon Mungaro, and Governor Mwadime have agreed to participate in a meeting of all stakeholders to be convened by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock this week as was agreed with the leadership of Embu County on Monday,” said Ruto.
