Governor denies claims of secretly supporting DP William Ruto
Governor denies claims he’s secretly supporting Deputy President William Ruto for the presidency in the August general election.
Marsabit Governor Mohamud has denied claims by Deputy President William Ruto that he’s secretly supporting him for fear of a witchhunt from the government.
DP William Ruto, during his tour of Marsabit on Wednesday, July 6, claimed Mohamud supports both him and Odinga; suggesting that the governor has not made up his mind on who to fully support.
He further claimed that he had noticed the Marsabit governor secretly supported him and his heart was not fully in Azimio la Umoja.
Governor Mohamud Ali is fighting to defend his seat on a UDM ticket under the Azimio ticket.
However, in a quicker rejoinder, the Governor dismissed Ruto’s claims asking the DP not to ride on his name.
He at the same time urged residents to rally behind Odinga’s presidential bid in the coming August polls.
“Mimi nimesema waziwazi, jamii yetu, wale wananiskia, watu wa kaunti ya Marsabit, watasimama imara na chama cha Azimio na kuchagua Raila Odinga,” said the governor.
“Ruto ni rafiki yangu, tulikuwa na yeye zamani, lakini tunaona yeye hawezi faulu…kaunti yetu inahitaji maendeleo kutoka ata serikali kuu. Kwa hivyo hatuwezi endelea kushirikiana nay eye kwa sasa.”
