Trans Nzoia Governor has dismissed a viral poster showing him together with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.
In a post on his Facebook account on Monday, October 13, Natembeya flagged the poster, which suggested the formation of a new coalition with Matiang’i and other leaders as fake.
The fake poster featured photos of Natembeya, Matiang’i, former Agriculture CS Peter Munya, former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, and Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni.
Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka and former UNCTAD Secretary General Mukhisa Kituyi were also included in the flagged poster.
The clarification comes days after Natembeya and Matiang’i visited Munya at his home and held a meeting.
In an update on Wednesday, October 8, Matiang’i said they visited Munya to offer their condolences following the passing of his grandmother, Mama Mwakairu Rukunga.

“This morning, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and I met with former Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya to commiserate with him following the passing of his beloved grandmother, Mama Mwakairu Rukunga (Bamung’o),” Matiang’i stated.
The former interior CS who is eyeing the presidency in the 2027 general election recently confirmed joining the Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee Party, with whose ticket he intends to vie for the presidency.
“I am openly saying I have joined the Jubilee Party. Just as we said during the NDC, now is the time to align ourselves with the Jubilee Party,” said Matiang’i on October 5.
He is also currently part of the United Opposition team, which bears other principals who have equally declared their presidential bids.
The team comprises Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, PLP leader Martha Karua, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, and former CS Justin Muturi.
Gachagua said the team would use a formula to determine the most viable candidate with the potential to challenge President Ruto in 2027.
