Elsewhere, Matiang’i expressed sorrow following the death of Mary Nyachae, daughter of the late former Cabinet Minister, Simeon Nyachae.

Earlier Wednesday, the former CS sent his message of condolence to Mary’s family and to all those who were touched by her kindness and generosity.

“It is with deep sadness that I have learnt of the passing of Mary Nyachae, daughter of the late patriarch, Mzee Simeon Nyachae.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Nyachae family and their friends. May the Lord grant you strength, comfort, and grace during this difficult time. Mary’s memory will live on through the lives she touched and the warmth she shared with those around her,” he said.

Mary, a former member of the Commodities Board of Trustees, passed away at MP Shah Hospital in Nairobi after weeks of battling cancer-related complications.

She was the firstborn daughter of the late Nyachae, who passed away on February 1, 2021, at the Nairobi Hospital, and the elder sister of lawyer Charles Nyachae, the current chairman of the Kenya School of Government.

Just a week before her death, MP Shah Hospital had issued an appeal for blood donations to extract platelets for Mary, who was then receiving treatment in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
