Simba Arati urges President Ruto not to focus on protests called by Azimio leader Raila Odinga owing to the stature of the office

Simba Arati urges President Ruto not to focus on protests called by Azimio leader Raila Odinga owing to the stature of the office.

The Kisii Governor stated, “The President needs to look at the protests from afar while he focuses on the development of the country,” during a rally on March 23 in Kisii County.

Simba Arati made the statements minutes after Ruto and his allies hit out at Raila over the demonstrations against the government during a rally at Kitutu Chache in Kisii County.

Governor Arati also acknowledged Ruto as the President of the republic and promised to work with the government in bringing development to the area.

“You are now the President and you should feel at home. When people engage in a demonstration down here, just look from afar because you are already up there,” he stated.

Ruto had dared Raila to face him and not interrupt Kenyans from operating their businesses with the demonstrations.

“Touts did not work on Monday as well as traders, Boda Bodas, and kiosk owners. What are you asking them? If you have a problem, face me. Stop disturbing citizens,” Ruto stated.

On the other hand, Arati called on Ruto not to appoint former allies of Raila such as his predecessor James Ongwae stating that the majority of them were old.

“I speak for the Kisii and I want to say that Ongwae and mzee Jimmy have been around for a while and we have young people. We are ready to give the elderly something small for medication, but when it comes to work that you want to be done for five years, give the youth,” Arati said.

He added that once he finishes his two terms as governor, he will either seek the country’s top seat or retire.

The Governor made the statements after Ongwae hinted that he was ready to work for the President after dumping Raila and the ODM Party.

Ongwae is one of the leaders who supported the Azimio side but has since changed sides and backed President Ruto.
