Graduate with two degrees in Education and Commerce in addition to CPA pleads for help after tarmacking for 9 years.
The 33-year-old graduate from Igembe North, Meru County, went viral on Thursday, January 26, after he made a passionate public plea.
The man identified as Samuel Meeme has been identified, has been unemployed for nine years.
The graduate has been jobless despite having two undergraduate degrees and CPA Section 2 certification.
Speaking to the media, Meeme narrated his struggle in seeking employment.
‘I first graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Chuka University in 2014.
“I was full of optimism having attained Second Class Lower Division and started applying for jobs in different financial institutions,” he revealed.
After a year of unsuccessful job hunting, Meeme got a job at a start-up secondary school where he was being paid Ksh6,000 per month.
“I worked at the school from 2015 to 2016 but was dismissed after the government made a directive that all teachers should have a Teachers Service Commission (TSC) number,” Meeme narrated.

Meeme explained that the two years at the secondary school made him fall in love with teaching.

“That is when I decided to go back to the university so that I can become a qualified teacher,” he explained.
“My parents were reluctant to take me back to school as they had already spent a fortune in my first-degree program,” he added.
After pleading with the parents, they agreed to pay 50 percent of the tuition fees.
“I enrolled at Mount Kenya University for a Bachelor of Education – Mathematics and Business Education option.
“On the weekends, I would look for construction jobs so as to be able to raise the other 50 percent,” he painfully narrated.
Meeme added that in order to make ends meet while on campus, he operated a small shop.

Despite the difficulties, Meeme earned a Second Class Upper Division diploma in 2021.
“I applied for a TSC number as soon as I graduated because I yearned to be back in the classroom instructing and guiding pupils.
A sad Meeme said, “When I got the TSC number, I went back to my former school only to have the headmaster tell me there was no vacancy.”
Since then, Meeme has unsuccessfully applied for jobs at several colleges and financial institutions.
He pleaded fervently, “I am on the verge of despair, I appeal to any Kenyan of goodness to grant me a work opportunity.”
