Guardiola has finally lost trust in Man City player over poor form, report

Guardiola has finally lost trust in Manchester City, Riyad Mahrez player over his poor form this season.

According to reports, Pep Guardiola has lost faith in the Algerian international, Riyad Mahrez over poor form this season.

Despite scoring in Wednesday’s 3-1 victory against Sevilla, Riyad Mahrez, 31, was not used as a substitute in Manchester City’s 2-1 victory over Fulham.

The 31-year-old may be wondering if his dismal performance in the Premier League has finally caused Pep Guardiola to lose faith in him.

Mahrez has made 16 appearances this season across all competitions, contributing to one assist in addition to three goals.

Guardiola has been patient with him despite his underwhelming performances because he has scored just one goal in nine Premier League games and hasn’t provided an assist since April.

Guardiola hasn’t been impressed with the Algerian international’s performances in a while. He has participated in 69% of City’s league games (9/13) but has only logged 31.6% of the available minutes (370/1170).

Mahrez has now been an unused substitute in three of City’s last four outings too, so his poor showings have cost him a place in the team.

Bernardo Silva replaced the 31-year-old on the right flank recently, so he’ll have to work hard to convince Guardiola that he deserves a reprieve.

Manchester City next faces Chelsea in the EFL Cup third round on Wednesday, so time will tell if Mahrez will return to the starting eleven.

Guardiola has used him for matches outside of the Premier League – 6/6 Champions League appearances.
