Guardiola-Pogba hold secret meeting to discuss Manchester City transfer.

In a new detailed report, it has been revealed that Pep Guardiola personally met Manchester United’s outgoing midfield star Paul Pogba to discuss a summer switch to the Etihad Stadium.

Given the imminent exit of Brazilian veteran Fernandinho, Manchester United’s Paul Pogba was under consideration to fill the position at Etihad.

But now, Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips is now understood to be Manchester City’s primary transfer target in the position.

Guardiola-Pogba secret meeting

According to the information of The Athletic report, Pep Guardiola personally met Paul Pogba to discuss a move to Manchester City.

Guardiola explained to the World Cup winner exactly why he wanted him to join his side this summer.

Laurie Whitwell’s report for The Athletic goes on to further reveal that Manchester City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain presented a ‘significant contract offer‘ to Paul Pogba, that would have made him one of the club’s highest earners – albeit not as high as the deals agreed to by Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland.

While Paul Pogba considered Manchester City’s offer, the player was unsurprisingly aware of the media storm that would be sparked by crossing the Manchester divide, and more importantly, according to Laurie Whitwell, the player felt a change of scenery was required after his home was burgled in March.

While Manchester City’s inability to sign Paul Pogba will give one of Europe’s top a free run at the player, the club will be more intent than ever on acquiring their primary midfield targets, Kalvin Phillips.
