High Court bars Sonko from publishing defamatory content against Miguna Miguna
The High Court in Nairobi has issued temporary orders restraining former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko from publishing or disseminating content deemed defamatory against lawyer and political commentator Miguna Miguna.
The ruling, delivered at Milimani Law Courts, grants interim relief to Miguna, with the court recognising his application as urgent. It also directs that pleadings be served and schedules a directions hearing for May 5, 2026.

Under the order, Sonko, his agents, or anyone acting on his behalf are prohibited from making statements considered defamatory, scandalous, or malicious about Miguna. The application further seeks the removal of content already published across social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.
High Court Judge Janet Mulwa, who signed the ruling, cautioned that failure to comply with the order could lead to penalties.
