Homa Bay Woman Rep Bensouda chased away during Albert Ojwang's postmortem
Homa Bay Woman Representative Joyce Atieno alias Bensouda faced a hostile reception at the Nairobi Funeral Home (formerly City Mortuary) where she has gone to attend the postmortem of Albert Ojwang.
Upon arrival at the mortuary on Tuesday, June 10, the youth and activists expressed their displeasure at the presence of the lawmaker.
In the incident that was captured on video, the youth were filmed showing the MP her way out.
The youth were also heard telling the MP to go back to Parliament while asking where she was the whole time.
“Aende. Alikuwa wapi wakiuua watu. Aende Bunge,” they chanted.
Ojwang, a resident of Homa Bay County, died while in police custody.
The teacher, by profession, died as a result of head injuries during an assault.
According to the postmortem exercise, Ojwang also had neck compressions and injuries in other parts of the body.

The death of Ojwang has led to public uproar, with Kenyans calling for speedy investigations and individual responsibility for the officers involved in the murder.
Groups such as the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) have also demanded an audit of the Central Police Station.
“The Law Society of Kenya has consistently raised concerns over the safety of detainees while in police custody, and the trend of abuse and mistreatment that has characterized Kenyan police cells. In particular, we have sounded grave apprehension over the Central Police Station in Nairobi, which has been a poster boy for police brutality and overreach,” LSK stated.
“We call upon the IPOA to expeditiously investigate the concerns raised and keep Kenyans apprised of the outcome of the investigations.”
