I humbly accept Chief minister position – Kalonzo back to Azimio

Kalonzo back to Azimio as he defers his presidential bid in favour of Raila Odinga and Martha Karua. 

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has dropped his presidential and accepted the Chief Cabinet Secretary position offered by Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

Speaking to the media at his command centre, Kalonzo said he will also back Azimio la Umoja’s presidential candidate.

Last month, Kalonzo announced his departure from Azimio and announced his presidential bid after missing on running mate position.

“With humility, I hereby accept the nomination for the position of the chief minister when Azimio forms government. I would wish to congratulate Karua on her nomination as Azimio DP nominee,” he said.

“We have an opportunity to choose a united and prosperous Kenya. The alternative is unthinkable and unimaginable,” Kalonzo said.

“I have deferred my dreams to run in the August elections and I will support the Raila-Karua ticket.

At the same time, Kalonzo thanked Kenyans who supported his presidential bid by appending their signatures.

“I stand here as a proud Kenyan. I acknowledge the goodwill I have received from those Kenyans who appended their signatures to allow me to run for the presidency,” he said.

‘…the nation is greater than an individual. I have deferred my dream to vie for the seat of the president of Kenya. After wide consultation, I have accepted the nomination to be Chief Minister in the Azimio-OKA government…’ he added.
