The Deputy President noted that he took a seven-day leave to pray and meditate on the state of the nation and the welfare of the people of Mt Kenya.

Gachagua’s absence from the public and government functions raised questions from across quarters last week.

The deputy president was absent when the president led the members of his Cabinet in the nationwide tree-planting exercise on May 10.

Later, he could not be spotted at State House, Nairobi, where President Wiliam Ruto and the Cabinet members hosted visiting Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.

Throughout the period, Gachagua’s official social media accounts remained un-updated.

The DP showed up on Sunday, May 19 during a church service at the Sacred Heart Endarasha Catholic Church in Kieni Constituency, Nyeri County.
