Ida Odinga recounts the moment she was sacked by the Moi administration for visiting political detainees’ mothers.
Azimio presidential candidate, Raila Odinga’s wife, Ida Odinga has narrated the moment she was sacked by the former late president Daniel Moi’s government for visiting political detainees’ mothers.
During that time, her husband, Raila Odinga was in detention.
Mama Ida Odinga revealed that during that time, she was serving as an education officer at the Ministry of Education at Jogoo House.
She narrated that her visit to the mothers of political prisoners held up in the basement of The All Saints’ Cathedral led to her immediate dismissal from the service.
Taking to her official Facebook page on Thursday, June 23, Ida shared a photo she said was taken in 1990 in Kileleshwa.

“By then Winnie Chogo was about five months old and Raila Junior was 11 years. Baba was then in detention,” Ida said.
“The memories that come to me today are of my dismissal from the ministry,” said Ida. She said that back then; she had gone to visit the mothers of political prisoners and detainees who were put up in the basement of The All Saints’ Cathedral after being chased away from the Freedom Corner.
“I remember so vividly that my visit led to my immediate dismissal from service after my picture was featured on the front page of a local daily newspaper,” Ida explained.
