The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has approved the ODM party’s choice for a nominated MP set to replace National Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi in the National Assembly.

Mbadi, who had been a nominated MP, quit his seat in parliament after President William Ruto nominated him to the Cabinet.

Consequently, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula declared the seat vacant.

The ODM party settled on Harold Kimuge Kipchumba to replace Mbadi.

Kimuge represents people living with disability.

At the same time, the IEBC announced the reallocation of nine special seats in county assemblies.

According to the commission, the vacancies arose either due to death or resignations.

“In line with this mandate, the Commission has reallocated nine special seats in various County Assemblies, following declarations of vacancies by the respective Speakers. These vacancies arose due to the resignation or death of the former members,” said IEBC chairman Erastus Ethekon.

In the Garissa County Assembly, the UDA party replaced nominated MCA Abdi Gedi Adow with Dubat Abdikadir Adan, representing the youth.
