The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the commencement of its accreditation process for organizations interested in participating in the upcoming by-elections for the 2025/2026 financial year.

In a public notice released on Wednesday, August 6, the Commission invited applications from organizations seeking to be accredited as Voter Education Providers, Election Observers, or Media Practitioners.

Interested parties were advised to ensure they have access to a stable internet connection when submitting their details via the online portal, before the Friday, September 5, 2025, at 5:00 PM deadline.

“All interested organizations must submit their applications through the IEBC Accreditation Management System (AMS) at: https://ams.iebc.or.ke,” the notice read.

Additionally, organizations applying to serve as Voter Education Providers are required to collect a Physical Address Authentication Form from the office of the respective County Election Manager.

A scanned copy of the completed form must be uploaded alongside other required documents during the application process.

The Commission stated that all successfully accredited organizations will undergo training and be issued with Accreditation Certificates, identification badges, and other necessary support materials to guide them in their roles during the electoral process.

IEBC is yet to officially announce the dates for the upcoming by-elections.

In a related development, the opposition Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) recently accused the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) of interfering with the commission, potentially delaying the process.

“Up to today, IEBC has not given us the dates for the by-elections. We know the ruling party is trying to push the dates further. They are not ready because they have done a survey and realized that out of 22 by-elections, there is none they can win,” DCP deputy party leader, Cleophas Malala, stated.
