IEBC materials destroyed by the members of the public in Chuka/Igambang’ombe in Tharaka Nithi County while on transit to polling stations
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is doing its last-minute preparations ahead of Tuesday, August General Elections.
According to reports by Nation Media, ballot materials that belong to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission have been destroyed as they were on transit to polling stations across the county.
The IEBC materials were destroyed by members of the public for reasons that are not yet known.
“Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission materials in Chuka/Igambang’ombe have been destroyed by members of the public.
The IEBC officials who were in charge of the materials said that the voting materials were being taken to polling stations in Igambang’ombe Sub-county from Chuka sub-county.
The said IEBC materials were impounded at Chuka/Igambang’ombe before they were destroyed by rowdy members of the public.

In other election-related news, IEBC has sacked four officials allegedly found meeting two candidates at a residential home on Sunday.
IEBC said they will announce their replacement on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s vote.
The four include a presiding officer of a polling station in Kanyadoto ward, two deputy presiding officers of polling stations in Kanyadoto ward, and a clerk of a polling station in Kwabwai ward.
They were meeting at the home of an aspiring MCA in Riat in Kanyikela ward and a parliamentary aspirant from a political party in the Ndhiwa constituency.
On Monday, the commission through Homa Bay IEBC returning officer Fredrick Apopa disqualified the officials over the offense.
”We’re hiring other people to replace the vacancies created by the dismissed individuals. They can no longer be trusted,” Apopa said.
He said they still don’t know what the four had been discussing in their meetings.
