In a short statement released on Tuesday, July 8, the commission confirmed that the system was up and running, thanking the general for their patience as the portal underwent maintenance activities.
In a previous statement, IEBC explained the need for the maintenance exercise, which aims to enhance system performance and strengthen security in preparation for upcoming electoral activities.
“We appreciate your patience during the maintenance period,” the statement read in part.
IEBC further urged citizens to take advantage of the development to log in and confirm their details and voter status, even though the election period is years away.

Follow the link provided at https://verify.iebc.or.ke. This will redirect you to a voter verification portal homepage, where you must input your Identification number and date of birth before proceeding to click the verify icon.

Once in, the portal will display the voter’s details, which include the first name and surname, the county, the constituency name, and the ward name.
Other details available are the polling center name, station name, and number.
The IEBC announced downtime on July 6, which ignited online debate. The commission had begun migrating its systems to a new digital infrastructure.
The announcement, coming two years before the general elections, received criticism from the masses, terming it as ‘suspicious activity, even as IEBC assured citizens that the registration records collected during the 2022 General Election would remain secure and intact throughout the migration process.
“The Commission highly regrets any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates your understanding as it works towards serving you better,” the IEBC stated.
