Ignore Wajackoyah and his Marijuana manifesto, Catholic bishops
Ignore Wajackoyah and his Marijuana manifesto, Catholic bishops have urged Kenyans to stop giving him much attention.
Catholic bishops have asked Kenyans to stop giving much attention to Roots party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah for his bhang manifesto.
In a statement read by Nyeri Archbishop Anthony Muheria at Our Lady of Consolata Cathedral church on Sunday, 19, the bishops said Wajackoyah’s advocacy policies to legalize bhang are immoral and unethical.
The bishops have asked Kenyans to be vigilant of such leaders who are seeking to promote ” immoral and unethical manifestos”, which will break the social fabric of the country.
“For a nation to thrive, it must be founded on ethical and moral grounds,” the bishop said.
He urged his congregants to exercise their democratic right by voting in the forthcoming election.
“Every person who will be participating in the upcoming August polls to ensure they elect a leader who will embody the vision of the people he intends to lead,” read part of the speech.
“We are not looking forward to electing saints or angels. A leader must therefore be humble in exercising his office… refuse to vote for leaders who will propagate the cancer of corruption rather vote for a leader who will vouch for reconciliation with nature and our creator,” Archbishop Muheria said.
The Roots party presidential hopeful, George Wajackoya has been running his presidential campaign on advocating for bhang legalization.
He noted that proceeds from the marijuana growing would be used to clear Kenya’s huge debts.
