I'll fix politics in Mt. Kenya and residents will soon embrace President Ruto; CS Kabogo

ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo says he will help fix politics in Mt. Kenya and eventually have residents embrace President William Ruto

ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo says he will help fix politics in Mt. Kenya and eventually have residents embrace President William Ruto.

Speaking at the Annual Data Privacy Conference in Eldoret, Kabogo dismissed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua accusing him of misleading the people from the mountain.

Kabogo says the ex-DP will not scare President Ruto from achieving his plans for the region, adding that he will be heading to the region soon for politics to ensure the ‘anti-government’ noise comes to an end.

“I can assure you that the noise in the mountain will end. I am heading to the mountain soon and I will take President Ruto’s greetings which will be well received,” said Kabogo.

The CS accused Gachagua of misleading Kenyans and inciting people in his political backyard yet he was in government until recently and he never talked of the things he is being loud about now.

“You can’t be in the kitchen cooking and eating then you get out and start telling people that someone inside there was cooking bad food and asking me to give it to you,” Kabogo stated.

The former Kiambu Governor cautioned Mt. Kenya residents not to be misled into following Gachagua blindly.

He said he will use the opportunity as a CS to get back to the political stage after 7 years, to help fix things that are supposed to be fixed.

“It’s like going to the bus stage and boarding a bus that you know very well that it’s not heading anywhere. There are things that need to be fixed and I will fix them,” said Kabogo.

The CS at the same time cautioned Kenyans and youth to use the internet, especially social media, responsibly and for the benefit of society.

He emphasized the significance of safeguarding personal data integration of privacy in the operations of all institutions in the country, adding that the digitizing of public records was anchored on enhancing data protection and privacy in the country.

Furthermore, the CS noted that Kenya was placed on top in Africa in terms of data protection and safeguarding personal data would help to spur digital transformation and economic development.

“I ask our young people to be responsible and use the internet space for the good of society. I will work together with players in the sector to take Kenya to the next level in digital transformation,” said Kabogo.

He said the government was keen on digital transformation under the bottom-up economic agenda because the same would greatly help economic growth.

The ICT CS said the government was developing 25,000 WiFi hotspots and expanding ICT infrastructure as an integral part of the economic transformation.

According to the CS, data protection creates confidence among investors and helps to attract and build confidence among investors.
