Boda Boda rider, Victor Bwire who conspired with terrorists to blow up KICC found guilty at the Mililani Law Courts.

A court in Nairobi found guilty a Boda Boda rider who is believed to have gathered intelligence on Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) and relayed it to a terrorist group in Somalia.

On January 16, Senior Principal Magistrate Benard Ochoi issued a judgment that the suspect had conducted surveillance on the renowned KICC building in 2019.

The magistrate further found that the prosecution had proved the two counts beyond a reasonable doubt.

During the mission, Bwire’s assignment was to carry out surveillance of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

He was tasked with checking how many entrances there were into the building, how security searches were being conducted, and the number of doors.

He was also tasked to check on the toilets, CCTV cameras, loading zones, and other areas including parking lots.

It was revealed that the convict had opened three Facebook accounts which he used to collect data and disseminate the same to Somalia and also to the enlisting master Mohamed Yare Abdalla who is serving a life term sentence at Kamiti Maximum Prison over terrorism.

Further, a forensic analysis of phones seized from Bwire showed he had sent information on KICC’s security arrangement to his contacts in Somalia.

Defending himself, the suspect argued that his contact in Somalia was a sugar merchant.

He also told the court that his contact in Somalia wanted to hold a cultural event at KICC.
