Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga holds a meeting with US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman at his residence in Karen, Nairobi.

In a statement on Friday, May 3, the former Prime Minister noted that they discussed the flood emergency in Kenya, assistance efforts, and his candidature for the African Union Commission chairperson position.

“We hosted the US ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman this morning. We discussed a range of issues including the flood emergency and assistance efforts in the country, US investments in Kenya, and my candidature for AUC chairmanship,” said Raila.

Whitman is the fourth foreign envoy, Raila has hosted at his Karen home in a span of two weeks.

Raila and the two diplomats also reviewed existing political, security, economic, and humanitarian assistance to Kenya and other African countries, including the situation in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo and the need for lasting peace in the regions.
