Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai discharged from hospital

Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai has been discharged from the Aga Khan Hospital after he was taken ill on August, 25.

According to reports Mutyambai was discharged on September 1 at around 2:30 pm and will now be monitored from his Karen home.

On Monday, August 28, the IG was transferred from the High Dependency Unit to the regular ward after the pressure on his brain settled.

The Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai spent the last 12 days in the hospital and could be back in control of the service in the coming days.

The IG was rushed to the Aga Khan Hospital and placed in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) after complaining of breathing difficulties before collapsing at his Karen home in Nairobi. 

In a statement on Friday, August 26, Mutyambai announced he was taking a break from the office to attend to his health.

The IG of Police, however, did not reveal what was ailing him but assured the nation that he was advised to immediately proceed to a hospital for analysis and further advice. 

Deputy Inspector General of Polic Noor Gabow took charge of operations at the National Police Station (NPS). 

“This is to inform the general public that I will be away from the office attending to a medical check-up effective today. In my absence, Noor Gabow, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Administration, will act as the IG of the National Police Service until my return,” said Mutyambai.
