Jeff Koinange laughs off death rumours as he makes TV comeback on JKL
Veteran Kenyan journalist Jeff Koinange has returned to television after a six-month absence, making a surprise appearance on his signature show
Veteran Kenyan journalist Jeff Koinange has returned to television after a six-month absence, making a surprise appearance on his signature show on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
Koinange immediately addressed the viral rumours that had circulated online claiming he had passed away, joking about the impossibility of rising from the grave.
“The news of my death has been exaggerated. For 2000 years hakuna mtu amefufuka!” Jeff said.
“I’m back… like I never left. It’s great to be back.”
Still laughing off the online speculation, he questioned how Kenyans could have declared him deceased.
He then drove the joke home by pulling out a black T-shirt labelled ‘Lazarus’ and displaying it on television, a clear reference to the biblical figure who was raised from the dead.

The death rumours had spread quickly on social media, shocking many fans and prompting an outpouring of premature condolences.
Koinange’s return ends months of anxiety and speculation among his followers.
About a month before his official TV comeback, Koinange made a public appearance with radio presenter Maina Kageni, primarily to reassure fans.
During his absence from Jeff Koinange Live (JKL), some Kenyans speculated that, he had passed away (death rumours) and others thought that he had been fired from the station.
In a video shared by Maina Kageni on X on October 28, 2025, Koinange confirmed he was well and planning his return.
“Hey folks, Jeff Koinange here. Just want to let you know that all is good, all the time, and I’m gonna be back very, very soon sooner than you know. So, hang in there,” Jeff said at the time.
Maina Kageni echoed the sentiment, telling fans, “Jeff is doing great and will be back on our screens very soon. Jeff, get back.”
