NTV journalist Ibrahim Karanja confronts a police officer captured on live TV while beating up protesters.
Journalists from the Nation Media Group intervened after a police was seen beating up a protester.
In a video, a group of police officers were seen surrounding a protester.
NTV Journalist identified as Ibrahim Karanja was heard calling out the police officer for allegedly beating up a protester.
He raised the alarm and directed his photographer to follow him and document the incident.
“Kuna polisi ambaye anamtandika muandamanaji, njoo. Ndugu mbona unatandika watu, mbona unapiga watu no no, that is wrong ,” he said.
He approached the police officer was seen pushing him away and retreated.
“Sasa unataka kunipiga mimi, nipige, no nipige,” Karanja said while going down on his knees with arms stretched forward.
The police officers then retreated and went away.
Protesters shouted that they were peaceful and should be left to exercise their democratic rights.

The anti-riot police engage anti-Finance Bill protesters for the second day of the Occupy Parliament protests in Nairobi.
A journalist from an international media house was spotted injured while his colleagues rushed him to safety.
The journalist was allegedly hit by a teargas canister during the Thursday protests.
Nationwide, protesters turned out in numbers to protest the Finance Bill 2024 even as members of Parliament debated the bill.
The protesters thronged the cities of Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu as well as other towns including Nakuru, Nyeri, Eldoret, and Nakuru among others.
Dominated by Gen Zs, the protesters expressed their dissatisfaction with the state’s changes to the bill and are adamant that the entire proposal be rejected.
