Junet laughs off removal as Azimio parliamentary group leader
Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has reacted to his removal from the position of Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Parliamentary Group leader with humour.
The legislator took to social media to react to the news by posting laughing emojis and a video of him laughing.
The move comes shortly after the coalition, led by the coalition leader Kalonzo Musyoka, announced a major reshuffle of its leadership, removing Junet from the parliamentary group leadership.
Azimio said the move to reshuffle leaders is because of appointments to public office and alignment with other political formations.
Earlier, Azimio announced a leadership shake-up that has seen several senior politicians removed from key coalition positions.
Among those removed from the Azimio Coalition Council are Mining CS Hassan Joho, Nominated MPs Sabina Chege, Abdi Noor, and Omar Farah.
Several other leaders dropped from the Azimio National Coalition Executive Council, include Cooperatives CS Wycliffe Oparanya, MPs Adan Keynan (Eldas), David Pkosing (Pokot South), Mishi Mboko (Likoni), and Abdul Haji; Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi; Isabella Wangechi Githinji; Caroline Wanjiru Karugu; and Solomon Kuria.
The coalition said replacements for the affected leaders will be announced later as part of an expanded coalition structure.
The meeting also resolved to terminate the appointment of Junet as the leader of the Azimio Coalition Parliamentary Group in the National Assembly. In his place, the coalition appointed Caroli Omondi to take over the role with immediate effect.

The announcement was made by Kalonzo Musyoka, who serves as the party leader of the coalition.
Kalonzo said the changes were necessary following recent political developments, including appointments to government positions and alignment with competing political coalitions.
In February, ODM formally initiated the process of withdrawing from the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition, citing repeated violations by some coalition partners.
The party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) convened in Mombasa to review developments within the coalition and expressed concern over what it described as sustained breaches of the coalition agreement.
