Kalonzo reveals he’s next in the queue to succeed Raila Odinga in 2027 and not Martha Karua.
It is too early to examine Kalonzo’s game plan in the Azimio coalition, but his remarks may cause a storm in the coalition should they win the August election.
Kalonzo revealed yesterday that he’s next in the queue and in a strategic position to succeed Raila Odinga in 2027 indicating it might not be Raila’s deputy Martha Karua.
Speaking at a rally in Machakos county on Friday, June 3, Kalonzo assured his supporters that he had already outlined a plan to counter Raila’s running mate, Martha Karua in the succession battle once Raila Odinga retires from office.
He said his Chief Minister position would give him an upper hand in the Raila succession plan.

Kalonzo reveals he’s in the succession plan
“We (Wiper) are not stopping until we take Kenya’s presidency. Since President Uhuru Kenyatta will retire and Mr. Odinga will become the President and Martha Karua his deputy, are you telling me that once Mr. Odinga retires, Martha should really become the President?
“Don’t you think we have just aligned properly to succeed Mr. Odinga? We are not kidding,” Kalonzo stated.
Kalonzo urger the Ukambani resident to vote for Raila to the last man as they voted in 2013 and 2017.
He assured them that they would be voting for him when they vote for Raila.
Nonetheless, with the murky Kenyan politics in the succession plans, it remains to be seen the Raila’s succession plan and the position of Kalonzo.
