The Kenya African National Union (KANU) party has claimed that one of its officials has been abducted.

The Kenya African National Union (KANU) party has claimed that one of its officials has been abducted by unknown people.

In a statement on Tuesday, October, KANU noted that Cornelius Ronoh, who serves as the party’s Digital Communications Officer, was abducted on Monday evening in Embakasi, Nairobi.

“We’ve received a report this morning that Mr. Cornelius Ronoh, who serves our party as a Digital Communications Officer, was brazenly abducted last evening outside the barbershop he patronizes near Nyayo Gate B in Fedha, Embakasi East,” read part of the statement by KANU Director of Communications Manasse Nyainda.

Nyainda disclosed that the party has dispatched its lawyers to report the matter to the police in Embakasi East.

The Gideon Moi-led party condemned the incident, calling on the authorities to produce Ronoh in court if he committed any offence.

“Mr. Ronoh, an active digital political commentator, has become the newest victim of outright abductions of people civically engaged about the failure of the country’s public policy decisions.

“As a party, we have dispatched our lawyers to report and pursue the matter at the nearest police station in Embakasi East. We unequivocally call on the authorities to produce Mr. Ronoh in any court of competent jurisdiction to stand trial if he is deemed to have committed any offense under the law,” Nyainda stated.

The claims by KANU come a few weeks after three men who were abducted in Kitengela by individuals believed to be the police on August 19 were released.

Jamil Longton, his brother Aslam Longton, and activist Bob Njagi were abandoned by their abductors in an area within Kiambu County, where they later found assistance.
