Karua hits out at Ruto for trying to outshine Pres Uhuru Kenyatta, “respect the sitting president”

Karua hits out at Ruto for trying to outshine President Uhuru Kenyatta, urging Kenyans to elect a president who has respect.

Azimio presidential running mate, Martha Karua, on Friday led the coalition’s campaigns to the Eastern region counties of Makueni and Kitui.

Accompanied by a host of local leaders including, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and her Makueni counterpart Kuvutha Kibwana among other leaders, Karua drummed up support for the Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

She urged Kenyans to vote for candidates under the Azimio umbrella in the upcoming August General Election.

Karua hits out at Ruto

In a thinly-veiled attack on deputy president William Ruto, Karua urged Kenyans to elect leaders who are respectful to those they are seeking to succeed.

“If you have no respect for your colleagues, you will also not respect the citizens. If you want the presidency, respect the sitting president… And it does not mean you should not fault him or her, but do it in a manner that is orderly and has a basis,” said Karua.

“If you elect leaders with no respect, you will have wronged yourself and you will also be disrespected. Kibaki was humble but you saw the fruits of his leadership,” She added.
