ODM Youth League politician, Kasmuel McOure, has challenged Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to resign from his position as the party’s Secretary-General.

In an interview on Tuesday, October 21, McOure dared Sifuna to step down if he feels ODM no longer aligns with his principles.

“Edwin Sifuna, if you think you are enough of a legislator, if you think you are man enough, and if ODM seems too retrogressive for you, then resign from the mandate that you were given,” he said.

This comes days after McOure warned individuals eyeing the political space left vacant by the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, cautioning them against attempts to inherit his leadership position.

Speaking on Saturday, October 18, McOure insisted that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) now falls under the stewardship of Senator Oburu Odinga, Raila’s elder brother.

“I am sending a stern warning to those bringing antics in the name of inheriting Raila’s position. You cannot inherit Raila’s position. ODM is now firmly under the leadership of Senator Oburu Odinga,” he said.

McOure further noted that the ODM party remains strong and should continue under Oburu’s leadership for the foreseeable future.

“The ODM party will be around for the next 20 years, but now it has to be under the firm leadership of Senator Oburu Odinga. They had better convene that national delegates conference and install him. He has the best ideals for the party. He has kept us together,” he added.

Elsewhere, speaking during Raila’s funeral, Sifuna hogged the attention at Raila’s burial when he appreciated the former Prime Minister for mentoring him to be the political personality he is today.

He paid a heartfelt tribute to Raila, thanking him for mentoring him into the political personality he is today.

“I am Baba’s son. I have been extremely privileged to have met Baba, learned under him, and finally served him as his Secretary General for the last eight years. I will eternally be grateful for the opportunity you gave me.

At the same time, Sifuna insisted that the ODM party would not play second fiddle to any other outfit in the 2027 vote.
