Kenya Kwanza leaders hint at UDA-ODM merger ahead of 2027 elections
Kenya Kwanza has hinted at a merger between the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)
A section of leaders from the Kenya Kwanza has hinted at a merger between the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to form a formidable political force, aiming to secure a second-term victory for President William Ruto in 2027.
Speaking at an empowerment forum in Turbo, Uasin Gishu County, on Friday, the leaders hit out at the opposition leaders, accusing them of spreading tribal politics.
“Wamesema acha rais akuja aingie ODM…so we can assure you ODM na UDA zitaform coalition ya kuchukua serikali 2027,” said Soy MP David Kiplagat.
The leaders warned their opponents to prepare for a grueling battle as they seek to secure President Ruto’s second-term victory.
“Mimi nawauliza, Jomo Kenyatta amekuwa miaka ngapi kwa presidency? Si amekuwa 15? Na marehemu Moi, na huyu Kibaki, na Uhuru Kenyatta amekuwa ngapi? Sasa ata wewe ukikaa hapo unafikiri Ruto atafanya tano?” said Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu.
“Sasa mimi nimeshika barabara na barabara ni William Ruto two-term,” added Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula.
The leaders slammed opposition leaders for spreading what they termed as tribal politics.

“Tuwe kama bodaboda, bodaboda hawana ukabila, anabeba Mkikuyu, anabeba Mkalenjin, anabeba Mluhya na Mjaluo,” said Farouk Kibet, the President’s aide.
“Sasa hawa wakabila wanatoka Nyeri wanaenda Gilgil wanarudi Nyeri wanasema wanaskiza ground. Hiyo ni ground gani? Wakitaka kuskiza ground wakuje hapa Turbo saizi waskie ground ni two term,” said Taita MP John Bwire.
The sentiments were shared by leaders from Kericho County who hailed the milestones achieved under the broad-based government.
“Serikali ya broad-based iko sawasawa na tutaendelea na wao tukiwa pamoja,” said Kuresoi North lawmaker Alfred Mutai.
“Na tunajua mheshimiwa rais come 2027 ataingia katika kiti na apate kuendeleza mambo ya kazi, ujenzi wa manyumba, mambo ya SHA, mambo ya NYOTA,” said Kipkelion East MP Joseph Cherorot.
