Kenya Railways announces specialized training opportunities
Kenya Railways, through its Railway Training Institute (RTI), has announced the opening of admissions for various specialized training programs in the railway sector.
In a notice on Wednesday, April 9, the institution said the initiative aims to develop skilled human capacity for Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) operations and maintenance.
RTI will be offering five key programs including locomotive driving, rolling stock inspection, and locomotive maintenance.
Other available programs are machinist and passenger operations, otherwise known as passenger crew.
Each program spans a duration of 9 to 12 months with fees ranging between Ksh112,000 and Ksh212,000, depending on the course.
According to RTI, classes are conducted from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday at its Nairobi campus.

The institution further noted that accommodation is optional and available at the institute at a cost of Ksh18,000 per term.
Further, a full-board option, which includes accommodation and meals is available at Ksh33,700 per term.
Applicants are required to submit a certificate of good conduct, academic certificates, national ID, and birth certificate.
Additionally, a non-refundable application fee of Ksh1,000 is to be paid via the eCitizen platform using Paybill number 222222 and account number NSRTI.
The required documents should be sent to the Director, Railway Training Institute, P.O Box 42226-00100, Nairobi by April 15, 2025.
RTI informed, that email applications can be directed to admission@rti.ac.ke.
